Training in techniques for safe manual handling at work

Who is this course for?

This qualification is aimed at people who carry out any manual handling activities at work, including both industrial and office workers. Under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, employers are required to take appropriate steps to reduce the risk of injury to employees, including through the provision of suitable training.

Course overview:

This course explores the risks of manual handling and how to mitigate them. It combines the theoretical and practical elements of manual handling; candidates will learn techniques to lift, carry, push and pull objects safely within their individual capability.

Learning outcomes include:

• identify and understand the risks associated with manual handling
• learn the value of risk assessment and how to apply it
• make recommendations to manage risks
• apply the principles of safer handling to a range of everyday manual handling tasks.

The course can be delivered as a half-day programme to gain the Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling or as a full day’s training, including assessment, to gain the full Level 2 Award in Manual Handling – Principles and Practice.

Duration: one day, 10am to 5pm
